The Greater Istanbul Municipality has opened the contract for six new metro lines. In the last few days, the company has completed five agreements of these lines by completing the contracting related to its electro-mechanic services.
Work is underway to sign the latest and sixth contract in the coming days. In this way, the Greater Istanbul Municipality has completed the necessary preliminary work for the mentioned metro lines.
17 companies participated in the contracting and in the tender works that had been announced by the municipality. Three companies were rejected because of the lack of required legal conditions. The competition was completed by 14 companies. Where international companies from Russia, China, Spain and Italy entered the tenders.
The Greater Istanbul Municipality will open five new metro lines by 2019, as follows:
- Başakşehir - Kayaşehir, 6 km long.
- Kirazlı - Küçükçekmece - Halkalı 9.7 km long.
- Kaynarca (Pendik Tuzla) 12 km long.
- Çekmeköy - Sultanbeyli - Taşdelen (17.8 km).
- Ümraniye - Atashir - Göztepe 13 km long.
These new lines will allow the people of Istanbul to travel more than 400 km by rails.
