The international Ataturk Airport in the European part of Istanbul and Sabiha Gokgan airport in the Asian part of the city, which are one of the most travelers' receiving airports in Turkey received 80 million passengers during the last 10 months of this year, a number almost equal to the population of Turkey.
As for the distribution of the number of passengers on the interior and exterior lines, the interior lines witnessed a remarkable increase compared to the same period last year, with more than 43 million passengers, and the number of passengers on the exterior lines reached 37 million passengers.
Figures released in this context show that the number of passengers in the same period last year, i.e. between January and October was approximately 76.5 million passengers, which bodes well but the total number of passengers may reach or exceed the threshold of 100 million till the end of the year.
A total of 119,998 flights were flown on the interior lines at the Ataturk International Airport during this period, while the number of flights on the exterior lines reached 266,453, and total flights from Ataturk Airport to 386 and 541.
A total of 116,733 local flights were flown at the International Sabiha Gokgan Airport during this period. The total number of flights on exterior lines reached 67,860, and total flights from Ataturk Airport only to 184 and 593.
Moreover, a total of 571,134 flights were flown in the same period last year at both airports, while this number reached 593 and 579 flights in total.
